Electronic medical records

Currently there are many electronic health record (EHR) systems on the market. While they all offer varying levels of functionality all of them provide a digital version of a patient's paper chart. EHRs are real-time, patient-centered records that make information available instantly and securely to authorized users. Many of the more sophisticated EHR systems are built to go beyond standard clinical data collected in a provider's office and provide a broader view of a patient's care. Constellation Healthcare Technologies helps you get the most from your existing EHR system because we have developed a proprietary integration tools, which can integrate data such as:

  • A patient's medical history, diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, immunization dates, allergies, radiology images, and laboratory and test results
  • Evidence-based tools that providers can use to make decisions about a patient's care
  • Patient demographics and billing information
  • Our integration tools along with our expert IT consultants help practices automate and streamline data to eliminate redundant data entry and provide workflows that expedite claims processing and ensure rapid payments on claims. Our clients have found that using our integration of your EHR system and your internal or third party billing system you can achieve success on first claim submission in over 98% of your claims.

If you are not currently using an EHR system, Oriana Medical Consultants are ready to help you through the selection, acquisition, implementation, and deployment of a state of the art EHR system, so you too may begin receiving the incentives provided by the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.

Tele- medicine

Given that strengths and weaknesses exist in each of these types, increasingly, medical providers are looking for ways to combine these telemdicine services into a more effective and coherent whole.

A hybrid consultation combines elements of both synchronous interactions and store-and-forward processes.

In a hybrid consultation, a specialist usually has access to complex diagnostics that were performed at an earlier date. However, the specialist also has the ability to engage directly with the patient and/or family members. According to Telehealth Resource Centers (2018), these hybrid consultations are most commonly seen in specialties, such as dermatology and cardiology.

These different type of telemedicine services will be discussed in greater detail later in the chapter. However, it is important to remember that no matter what delivery method is selected, the goal remains the same — improving patient outcomes.

Home care services

Home care is care that allows a person with special needs stays in their home. It might be for people who are getting older, are chronically ill, recovering from surgery, or disabled. Home care services include

  • Personal care, such as help with bathing, washing your hair, or getting dressed
  • Homemaking, such as cleaning, yard work, and laundry
  • Cooking or delivering meals
  • Health care, such as having a home health aide come to your home

You can get almost any type of help you want in your home. Some types of care and community services are free or donated. Many other types you have to pay for. Sometimes government programs or your health insurance will help cover the cost of certain home care services.

Doctors specialize in treating patients, not negotiating prices and order products. But when supply costs aren’t monitored, practices can suffer. It pays to periodically revisit the purchasing process to ensure your practice isn’t paying more than necessary. That means the practice should be looking at its current group purchasing organization (GPO) or physician buying group (PBG) or joining the best one for the practice.

GPOs are the most common way to save money on medical and other office supplies. “Almost all GPOs offer just about everything involved in medical practice, including office supplies, capital equipment, and purchased services,” says Sikes.

GPOs are membership organizations, typically with no fee. The aggregate sales to negotiate better manufacturer prices. They’re government regulated, and the vendor pays 1 to 3 percent fees to the GPO for items purchased.

The GPO concept got its start serving hospitals, and the largest ones now have divisions serving physician practices and other nonacute settings, as well.
